During the height of Covid, my family and I purchased a home in Summit, NJ. We had no idea where to begin when it came to narrowing down an overall aesthetic, purchasing furniture or embarking on a full kitchen renovation. To make matters worse, we were living out of state at the time and doing all of this from afar. We are so grateful to have found Shannon at Ash & Pine Interiors, as she was able to bring our vision to life while taking care of EVERY detail of a full home design and kitchen renovation (no easy task!).
Shannon truly understood our mission (and was patient with us while we figured out our own style!). From finding us the perfect kitchen hardware, lights and countertops to creating a custom family room fireplace and wooden accent wall, to designing two fun boys' bedrooms to dealing with all the vendors, contractors, handymen and installation companies — Shannon truly did it all and made us feel at ease during a very stressful time.
I would recommend Shannon to anyone who is looking for design assistance, whether they're completing one room, furnishing an entire house or starting a home renovation. We are so happy with the final product and it is all thanks to Ash & Pine Interiors!
The Bravers
I had the pleasure of working with Shannon of Ash & Pine Interiors starting in the Fall of 2021. We were in the final stages of building our house and I was in my third trimester – and Shannon fully embraced the chaos!
Although my husband and I had strong design preferences, we didn’t feel confident enough to pull the trigger on large investments and/or permanent design decisions. We really wanted someone who would help us achieve a modern aesthetic, while balancing the design with some of the more traditional aspects of the home. Additionally, we wanted someone who could help push us outside of our comfort zone.
In just a few short months, Shannon has helped us transform our empty house into a home. She has an eye for color (or in our case – shades of white, black, and gray!) and textures that can only be fully appreciated when you trust in her process. She also knew when we needed a nudge to take a little risk, and when we were at our limits.
One of the things I most enjoyed about working with Shannon was that she prioritized the needs of our family over short-term business growth; she didn’t allow us to simply expand the scope of the project without careful consideration for how our family would use the space. For example, when I wanted to build out our basement, she encouraged us to live in the house before deciding what to do in that area. As a mom herself, she knew I would come to appreciate having open space for free play, and she could not have been more right. I have no doubt that Shannon will one day design the perfect basement for us – and in the meantime, my entire family thanks her for preserving our sanity with a space “just for fun."
Beyond her artistic talents, Shannon was easy to work with due to her responsiveness, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects within our home. Shannon continuously impressed me throughout our working relationship and became someone I felt I could truly rely on. I would recommend her without hesitation and I look forward to working with Shannon on more projects in the future!
The Obergs
I didn't really know what to expect when hiring Shannon to help design our new home. I had ideas, but nothing too concrete to share. It quickly became apparent that she would be able to take my sampling of ideas and turn them into a vision/design that was really representative of us in every space she touched.
The two things she introduced me to that I think really brought it all together was the use of different textures (i.e. wallpaper, rugs, furniture) and LIGHTING. Lighting design was a complete game charger for our home – we now have the most gorgeous chandeliers and fixtures that are bold, beautiful, and functional. I could go on..... I am very happy with the outcome of each space Shannon designed for our home, and I highly recommend working with her.
